Mind bending triangles!

Holy inverted  3D geometric patterns batman after an morning working on this I need to give my eyes a rest.

Turned out well some over spray to clear up but the shape is there woot. Boy was that complicated to work out. Any one looking to torture themselves eyes rule of thumb 2/3rd white to 1/3rd red and a billion masking triangles!

Slowly slowy

Creeping towards completion

As you can see I been making 2 centurions at the same time hence the slowness of progression. The reason being to get all the messy stuff don't together. Ones for me and ones for PGI at this poing mine takes a back seat at this point while I paint PGI's and I'll paint mine at the same time as I paint my dragon since they will share the guards scheme.

I still have to fabricate rails for the knees, rear shins and aerial for the back of the head. Its a bit of soldering something new to me to master.

Lots of people asking to buy these. If I have some resin lefty over rather than let it go to waste I'll use it up and make some extras, however all that will wait until PGIs work done and real life allows. They'll probably go on eBay because they wont be a huge production run.

Centurion progress

I've reached the base coating stage thought I would share. I lost a few days because of a moment of carelessness, I knocked a leg off the table and the fin broke with the chipped peace vanishing so I had to unstick the thigh and cast a new one.

Its just balancing on its self here but i wanted to see how it all sat together I'm going to leave the missile doors till the very end because I know they get broken other wise. I still have a wash with a brush some black into the recesses which the spray can couldn't reach to get a good cranvas to start with.

Heres all the variants for the right arm AC10/AC20/LBX/UAC/Gauss/Laser they just slot you can either pick your posion and glue one, use friction to hold them or like I;ve done add magnets to hodl them firm.

There's a lot of weight hanging off the fore arm you can glue the arm of you don't want it to drop but i like a bit of movement so I've added a magnet to the elbow joint which hold the fore arm up but still allows it to move down.

One, two, three centurion

Stages of casting,

Sorry for the blurry phone cam but i grab these while I work. My nose has been in work, house improvements and this some of you have emailed or messaged me I'll try to answer those questions soon.

Not going to rush (I'm too old and tired) so it'll be a week or so it'll be ready for paint. I want to make another one for myself so i can basic assemble them together and get all the messy bit done in one shot.

Really itching to get this one posed and see 7months of work standing in front of me!

Dragon for me

While I thinker sand and buff the centurion I decide I might as well do my dragon at the same time while waiting for things to dry.

The surface quality of the dragons print was meh, something not 100% apparent till I already made moulds. So the edges need rubbing down and the flat surfaces need some Mr. Surfacer and a once over with 400grit.

That done the clam shell peices are put into very hot water and left to soften before putting them together and squeezing them tight and holding them under cold water to harden again. This is an old trick for 2 piece resin parts to get a good tight seam. The fine gaps are then puttied and rubbed smooth.

Here we are with a base coat down and masked up for paint, with a nice spring sunset in the back ground.

There's one more step I'd like to add which is a bit of red paint Draconis snake on the leg. Once the
Davion Guards colours go on I hope to have the Drac logo showing through to add a little interest.

And in parts for easier time painting.

I still have a spare dragon left over  if some ones interested in it, when its gone its gone.

Cent clean up done

So I've cleaned the centurion up there still a little light sanding to be done

I put down a 'finder' coat because working on clear plastic you can miss things but it also shows how nice this bad boy looks. Sitting loose on the desk.

You can see all the barrels LBX, Gauss, Laser, UAC5 tip, AC10 tip and the AC20 in place. I bought some 3mm magnets I plan to leave the barrels unglued so they can be hot swapped. Only 1 shin and foot because they match and I'll just take 2 moulds of these. The missile doors and rear of the gun bits are they're in a baggy for safe keeping.

Taking my time to see this one right my next update will be once I've cast it it resin and it'll look much like this but glued together.

Centurion - From the 3D printers

So the Cent was signed off and it was sent to the printers a week ago.

Here it is out of the box needing a good clean to remove all the wax (which I've now done).

I'm on to surface finishing now and that'll take as long as it takes because its messy, bloody figured work and I have to still be careful not to damage the tiny details.

It came out really nice eps the variant options Gauss/LBX/Laser/AC20/AC10/UAC5. SO looking forward to getting some paint on it :)

I've been getting allot of "can you teach me" or "can you write a tutorial" emails. The short answer is sadly no. There lots of well written tutorials out there for the many of the different programs that people use. There also a lot of 3D printing help out there too. Writing isn't my strong suit I don't have the free time to write a tome of the knowledge picked up over the years and it would eat into my time spent modelling.
